On this page we provide links to other web pages that we believe give useful information on asbestos. The Asbestos Awareness and Asbestos Training Company www.aaa-training.com . This site has a news page, a small amount of information on asbestos and health, short instructions on how to become a licensed contractor but far more information on their main business of courses. The Asbestos Removal Contractors Association www.arca.org.uk They are an association of specialist contractors and should be able to provide a list of companies in different areas of the UK who are licensed by the HSE to work on low density asbestos containing products. Remember that you do not need to use a licensed contractor to work on asbestos cement products, such as roofing slates, corrugated sheets, rainwater goods, semi and fully compressed flat sheets, etc, you only need a competent contractor. The Health and Safety Executive www.hse.gov.uk The HSE produce a number of very useful booklets and information sheets on asbestos, as well as listing consultation papers on intended changes to the law. All of this can be accessed from their web page. The National Federation of Roofing Contractors www.nfrc.co.uk This site is not concerned with asbestos but there are large quantities of asbestos cement products used in roofing. When work is needed on these roofs it is important that a 'Competent contractor' is used. Members of the NFRC should be competent and this site should help you choose. The Rural & Industrial Design and Building Association www.ridba.org.uk .This site is not concerned with asbestos but there are large quantities of asbestos cement products used in agricultural building, with over 70% of working agricultural buildings having asbestos cement roofs. When work is needed on these buildings it is important that a 'Competent contractor' is used. Corporate Contracting Members should be competent and this site should help you choose one. United Kingdom Accreditation Service www.ukas.org/testing This is a very easy site to search for accredited laboratories that can either carry out air sampling or check bulk materials for the presence of asbestos. Barbour Product Search www.barbourproductsearch.info An invaluable source of information on building materials and their uses Office Clearance and Wholesale www.officecw.co.uk New and Used Office furniture, with their stock shown online, servicing the country
