On this page we provide links to other web pages that we believe give useful information on asbestos. |
The Asbestos Awareness and Asbestos Training Company: This site has a news page, a small amount of information on asbestos and health, short instructions on how to become a licensed contractor but far more information on their main business of running asbestos training courses.
The
ARCA web page. They are an association of specialist contractors and
should be able to provide a list of companies in different areas of the |
The HSE web page: The HSE produce a number of very useful booklets and information sheets on asbestos, as well as listing consultation papers on intended changes to the law. All of this can be accessed from their web page. |
Croner’s web page: This site is large and complicated but if you run a search on asbestos it will bring up some interesting articles and information sheets. |
The National Federation of Roofing Contractors web site: This site is not concerned with asbestos but there are large quantities of asbestos cement products used in roofing. When work is needed on these roofs it is important that a ‘Competent contractor’ is used. Members of the NFRC should be competent and this site should help you choose. |
The Rural Design and Building Association Web site: This site is not concerned with asbestos but there are large quantities of asbestos cement products used in agricultural building, with over 70% of working agricultural buildings having asbestos cement roofs. When work is needed on these buildings it is important that a ‘Competent contractor’ is used. Members of the RDBA Construction Group should be competent and this site should help you choose one. UKAS web site: This is a very easy site to search for accredited laboratories that can either carry out air sampling or check materials for the presence of asbestos. |
We had expected to find many more useful web sites but unfortunately most of those we looked at were either companies selling their services or sites advising about the dangers of asbestos, without giving any meaningful advice about how asbestos containing products already in buildings should be treated and managed. |

If you know of any interesting and useful sites please let me know and we will check them out. |
